AUTOMATIC EXTREMES DETECTION ALGORITHM FOR PHOTOPLETHYSMOGRAPHIC SIGNALS

An extremes detection algorithm for photoplethysmographic signals using local maxima and minima have been proposed in the paper. This type of algorithms is needed in many clinical and research applications, such as the analysis of heart rate variability and morphological parameters of the pulse wave. The algorithm is validated against a publicly available validation dataset and registered photoplethysmographic signals, achieved a sensitivity of 99, 91 % and a positive predictability of 99,89 %. Algorithm is a simple calculation and may be implemented in hardware processing in real time.References
