Focus and Scope

The journal “Visnyk of Vinnytsia Polytechnical Institute” ("Вiсник Вiнницького полiтехнiчного iнституту") is an edition which is included in the List of scientific professional editions of Ukraine in the branches of technical sciences:  121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 131, 132, 133, 141, 144, 151, 152, 163, 172, 183, 275, аnd 01.05.00, 05.02.02, 05.02.10, 05.03.05, 05.09.03, 05.11.00, 05.13.05, 05.13.06, 05.12.13, 05.12.20, 05.14.02, 05.14.06, 05.22.20, 05.23.02, 05.23.05  (order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 11.07.2019 р., № 975; 15.10.2019, № 1301;  17.03.2020 р., № 409).

The journal is the part of the international science-based databases Index Copernicus International and Google Scholar and is referenced in the Ukrainian abstract journal Dzherelo.

The journal publishes articles that contain new theoretical and practical results in the fields of technical, economics, natural sciences and the humanities. The reviews of the current state of development of important scientific problems, reviews of scientific and methodological conferences held at VNTU, articles on pedagogy of higher education are also published. 

Peer Review Process

The peer review process of manuscripts of articles which are submitted to the editorial staff of the journal is independent and secret. The reviewer for every article is chosen by the editor-in-chief.

Scientists who are the leading specialists in the fields of corresponding sections of the journal are involved into the peer review process. The names of reviewers are not revealed by the editor-in-chief and the editorial staff. Communication between authors and reviewers is held by the responsible secretary of editorial board.

The term of the primary peer review process of manuscripts of articles cannot exceed 4 weeks.

The following aspects must be analyzed by the reviewer:

-accordance to the subjects of the journal;

-actuality of raising of research task;

-rationality of structure of the article;

-level of validity of models, statements and results;

-level of novelty of information that is presented in the article

If necessary, any comment can be made by a reviewer in relation to the content and presentation of the manuscript of the article. The editor-in-chief can add to the reviewer's comments his own ones.

The results of the peer review process are reported to the reviewer by the editorial staff through e-mail.

If there are any remarks, the editorial staff sends the copy of the review without the mentioned information about the reviewer for reading and further development. The corrected variant of the article is repeatedly given to the reviewer for a decision-making and taking the substantiated conclusion about possibility of publication, and only at his consent the article is considered positively reviewed.

In case of disagreement with a review the author of the article has the right to give the substantiated answer to the editorial staff of the journal. At that rate the article is examined by the editor-in-chief. He can direct the article for additional or new peer review process to the other specialist.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to decline the article in case of author’s unwillingness to take into account the remarks of reviewers. The declined articles are not examined repeatedly.

If the conclusion of reviewer is positive, usually, the article comes to editorial portfolio of the journal for its publication, but, on occasion, the editor-in-chief has a right not to agree with the decision of reviewer, if strong reasons will appear for this purpose. In this case there can be made a decision: to edit or decline the article or appoint another reviewer.

The final decision in relation to possibility and expediency of publication of the article is accepted by an editor-in-chief.

The content of the forthcoming issue of the journal including positively reviewed articles is adopted by the editor-in-chief after approval by the Academic Council of the University. 

Journal History

In December, 1993 the first number of scientific journal of our University (in 1993 it was called Vinnytsia polytechnical institute) "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" ("Вiсник Вiнницького полiтехнiчного iнституту") went out. It was one of the first scientific magazines of independent Ukraine with presentation of materials only in Ukrainian.

The rector of university (from 1989 to 2010), Honoured Worker of Science and Technique of Ukraine, academician of Academy of pedagogical sciences of Ukraine, doctor of engineering sciences, professor Boris Ivanovich Mokin, is the initiator of foundation of journal and his constant editor-in-chief.

Due to strong requirement to materials which are printed on the pages of "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute", the presidium of the Higher attestation commission of Ukraine inscribed it  in 1999 in the list of professional magazines in which basic materials of doctoral and candidate's dissertations in the branches of engineering, economic and pedagogical sciences inscribe can be printed.

Untill 1999 the journal came out 4 times a year. In connection with the great increase of enteries of articles, including articles of scholars from other cities of Ukraine, scince January, 1999 "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" is coming out with periodicity 6 numbers on a year. The circulation of journal was 365 copies. The members of the editorial collegium of journal are the scientists wellknown in their branches, in a majority doctors of science. A Composition of editorial college is constatly restored by the orders of rector of VNTU.

In nowaday composition of editorial board of journal in each of industries: engineering, economic, pedagogical and fundamental sciences there are not less than five doctors of sciences.

From the moment of foundation of journal an editorial college provides the independent secret criticizing of manuscripts of the articles.

About the high level of criticizing of the articles signifies that approximately every fourth article, from those that are sent to editorial office, is declined by
the members of editorial board.

For decrising of amount of the articles of low scientific level to the editoorial office scince 1999 on call of editorial board materials of every article must pass the previous discussion and get approval on the scientific seminar of type department or at scientific conference which take place at VNTU.

From the day of foundation of journal consideration of the articles, their preparation to the publication and edition of each number of journal is conducted in such sequence:

  • verification of requirements to legalization and registration of the article;
  • previous consideration of manuscript and direction on criticizing to one of members of editorial board or after recommendation of member of editorial board, responcible for this scientific direction, to other well-known scientist on the subject of the article;
  • criticizing of the article (maximal term - month) and, if there are any remarks, direction to the authors on a revision;
  • forming current number of journal with the well criticized finished articles and final approve of his maintenance by an editor-in-chief and Scientific advice of university;
  • editing and printing journal in the publishing house of VNTU.

Scince December, 2002 a journal has a subscription index 06225 and is annually put in Catalogue of editions of Ukraine.

In 2008, "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" has received International Standard Serial Number both for the printed version (ISSN 1997-9266), and for on-line electronic version (ISSN 1997-9274).

Abstracts of all articles published in the "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" are sent for publication in the Ukrainian reference journal "Dzherelo", according to the Сontract between VNTU and the Institute for Information Recording of NAS of Ukraine, which was concluded in 2005.
The journal "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" is  included in bibliographic database of scientific publications RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index) from March 2013 . All articles published in the "Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute" since No. 1, 2004, are placed on the Scientific Electronic Library elibrary.ru web site, according to the Contract between VNTU and the Scientific Electronic Library. Today more than 1,600 texts are available.
